A walk to Benares

May 9, 2014

Benares (Varanasi or Kashi as some call it) is an Indian city residing on the banks of Ganges river. Varanasi is considered to be the abode of Lord Shiva and it is the holiest of the seven sacred cities of Hinduism.

Ahaaan… When did I walk to Benares? Well, not the actual Benares of India but instead a small village in the southern part of Mauritius. It’s been one month since I joined e.venture ltd as a system engineer. My new workplace is rather cut-off from the hustle-bustle of towns. I like the atmosphere. Some peace reigns that gives me strength & time to attend to my thoughts.

Today a colleague and I decided to go trekking during lunch. Wait! Trekking at work? Yup … Our mini-lab resides among some ruins of Benares. Fifteen minutes walk down some bumpy landscape and we reach the sea.

Oh! Let the photos speak the rest of the story. Sorry for the quality, I am no pro at adjusting lighting on the camera.

Trekking starts along a palm field. Weather looks fine too. A few minutes later we reach the forest-like path. That was a rocky road and with the 4x4 truck you could feel all the kicks.

More walk down the track and we could now hear the sound of waves.

After one hour of fresh air we were back to our lab working on cool stuffs.
