I just happen to see an email on the Mauritius Internet Users mailing list that www.nic.mu is down since at least two days. Those who don't know it, www.nic.mu is a root zone registry that has been delegated the .mu ccTLD (Country Code Top Level Domain).
Last Saturday during a event organized by the No To Biometric Data on ID Card group, I did a demo showing on whose name gov.mu is registered & asked why gov-mu-.org is registered as private.
I raised the issue of having our ccTLD, .mu, being delegated to a "company" rather than a Government body. I raised several other concerns surrounding the infrastructure & malpractices.
Yet today, to poke us again, we see that www.nic.mu, which in fact is the website of the "company" I was referring on Saturday, is down. Down since 2 days.
